"A security component of the business: insuring cyber risk"
Date and place: Thursday, June 28, at 12:30 pm, ESSEC - campus La Défense (CNIT) - room 202 Abstract: Computer hacking is growing in number and power. A cyber-attack can generate significant losses and jeopardize the survival of companies, especially the small ones. Faced with this risk, Insurance is there to cover the risk that prevention could not avoid. The cyber-insurance market is young but growing – especially in the wake of the recent attacks. Insurers and reinsurers participate in the construction of a French and European cyber-protection sector while working on the creation of cyber insurance offers in a constantly changing environment. The strong sanctions that regulatory authorities can now impose in the event of non-notification of personal data breaches will encourage companies to invest in prevention and protection of their information systems. They are also likely to accelerate the transfer of risk to insurance. In this context of risks and regulatory constraints, insurers have to assume a broader role of accompanying companies.
