1. Journée "Mathématiques au service du développement", le 15 mars 2019 à Paris Le Centre international de mathématiques pures et appliquées (CIMPA), le Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), la Commission nationale française pour l’UNESCO (CNFU), sous le parrainage de l’Académie des sciences, ont l’honneur de vous convier à la journée « Mathématiques au service du développement » organisée le 15 mars 2019, en salle IV, à l’UNESCO (Paris). Cet événement, destiné à un public issu des mondes diplomatique, scientifique, associatif et universitaire, a pour objectif de sensibiliser les participants à l’importance des mathématiques dans les problématiques de développement au travers de présentations et de tables rondes. Cette journée exceptionnelle, qui sera animée par un professionnel des médias, mettra en lumière des personnalités, des institutions et des femmes de premier plan engagées au service des mathématiques pour le développement. 2. Journées MASCOT NUM 2019, du 18 au 20 mars 2019 à Rueil-Malmaison The edition 2019 of the MASCOT-NUM annual conference will be held in Rueil-Malmaison, near Paris, from 18th to 20th March, 2019. As in previous editions, the first day will be dedicated to presentations made by doctoral students with a reward for the best presentation (see Call for papers page). The next two days will then be devoted to presentations of invited speakers with a focus on particular topics. The second day will be dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Luc Pronzato. A serie of presentation centered around Luc's favorite research topics is scheduled. BAYES 2019, du 21 au 24 mai 2019 à Lyon Parrainage SFdS The objective of the conference is to promote the use and development of Bayesian Biostatistics in pharmaceutical and clinical research by bringing together scientists from academic institutions, regulatory authorities and life science industry. Masterclass Mathématiques appliquées CEPS Mathématiques Des Sciences du Vivant, du 27 au 29 mai 2019 à Marseille La Master Class Mathématiques appliquées CEPS est une formation de trois jours dont l’objectif est de présenter les thématiques du M2 Mathématiques appliquées CEPS de Marseille, à savoir le calcul scientifique, les équations aux dérivées partielles, les probabilités et la statistique. Une place importante est donnée au décloisonnement entre les aspects déterministes et aléatoires d’une part et la théorie, les méthodes numériques et les applications d’autre part. La thématique annuelle du M2 Mathématiques appliquées CEPS pour l’année 2018-2019 étant : Mathématiques Des Sciences Du Vivant, la Master Class s’articulera autour de diverses problématiques mathématiques issues de la biologie. Cette formation s’adresse à tous les étudiants francophones intéressés par les mathématiques appliquées (en priorité les étudiants de M1 et prépa agreg, mais aussi les étudiants actuellement en M2 ou L3). Elle a pour objectif de faire découvrir aux étudiants la recherche en mathématiques appliquées dans un environnement de travail privilégié permettant de réelles interactions avec les chercheurs invités (universitaires et chercheurs dans des instituts ou entreprises). Cette Master Class sera constituée de quatre mini-cours de 2h30 chacun et de trois exposés de 45 minutes par des chercheurs dans des Instituts ou entreprises, autour des mathématique de l’énergie. 5. AlCoB 2019, du 28 au 30 mai 2019 à Berkeley, USA The 6th International Conference on Algorithms for Computational Biology (AlCoB 2019) invites researchers to submit poster presentations. AlCoB 2019 will be held in Berkeley on May 28-30, 2019. See: http://alcob2019.irdta.eu/ Poster presentations are intended to enhance informal interactions with conference participants, at the same time allowing for in-depth discussion. TOPICS Presentations displaying novel work in progress on algorithms in computational biology are encouraged on the following topics: - assembling sequence reads into a complete genome, - identifying gene structures in the genome, - recognizing regulatory motifs, - aligning nucleotides and comparing genomes, - reconstructing regulatory networks of genes, and - inferring the evolutionary phylogeny of species. Posters do not need to show final research results. Work that might lead to new interesting developments is welcome. KEY DATES Poster submission deadline: April 21, 2019 Notification of poster acceptance or rejection: April 28, 2019 SUBMISSION Please submit a .pdf abstract through: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=alcob2019 It should contain the title, author(s) and affiliation, and should not exceed 500 words. PRESENTATION Posters will be allocated 10 minutes each in the programme for oral presentation. Moreover, they will remain hanging out during the whole conference for discussion. PUBLICATION Posters will not appear in the LNCS/LNBI proceedings volume of AlCoB 2019. However, they will be eligible for submission to the post-conference journal special issue in IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (2017 JCR impact factor: 2.428). REGISTRATION At least one author of each accepted poster must register to the conference by May 14, 2019. The registration fare is reduced: 285 Euros. It gives the same rights all other conference participants have (attendance, copy of the proceedings volume, lunches, coffee breaks). Contributors of regular papers who in addition get a poster accepted must register for the latter independently. **********
6. SPHINx19, du 24 au 26 juin 2019 à Paris The SPHINx19 conference and hackathon will take place in Paris, France, from 24 to 26 June 2019. The first two days will be dedicated to the conference, focusing on the dynamic modelling of pathogen spread in healthcare settings. We aim at proposing an attractive program combining invited and contributed talks and posters. The 1-day hackathon will take place on June 26. Don’t hesitate to register as soon as possible! Call for abstracts Abstracts are invited for oral and poster presentations at the conference. All submitted abstracts presenting results of mathematical modelling studies of pathogen spread within healthcare settings will be consider, within the main five sessions of the conference: * Better understanding pathogen spread dynamics within healthcare settings * Assessing the impact of treatments (vaccines, antibiotics...) within healthcare settings * Assessing infection control strategies within healthcare settings * Accounting for inter-individual contact networks within healthcare settings * Accounting for patient transfer networks between healthcare settings Submission is now open from the conference website, and will close on March 15. After evaluation by the scientific committee, authors of accepted contributions will be notified by April 15. Hackathon Several topics for the hackathon will be propose. Workshop and summer school SIHDM 2019, du 26 au 30 août 2019 à Pushkin, Saint-Pétersbourg, en Russie Parrainage SFdS Ce colloque est la deuxième édition d'une série de rencontres entre statisticiens russes et français, organisé par le laboratoire international Stochastic Algorithms and High-Dimensional Inference (HDILAB, National Research University Higher School of Economics). Il est centré sur les algorithmes stochastiques et l'inférence de modèles en grande dimension. Il se déroulera à Kochubey Mansion à Tsarskoye Selo, dans un cadre magnifique à 30 minutes du centre de Saint-Petersbourg. Ouverture du concours d'images & sons Beautiful Science Parrainage SFdS Parce que la science rime aussi avec beauté, créativité et émerveillement, redécouvrons le monde magnifique et mystérieux qui nous entoure à l'occasion du concours Beautiful Science, le concours d'images & sons lancé par la Société Française de Physique à l'occasion de son prochain Congrès Général. Parrainé par le collectif OBVIOUS (ces 3 jeunes français à l'origine de la première peinture générée par intelligence artificielle), le concours est ouvert à tous et à toutes les sciences. Son thème "Montrer la science dans ce qu'elle a de plus beau et de plus élégant, de l'infiniment petit à l'infiniment grand !" Les meilleures œuvres (photos, vidéos, dessins, pistes audios etc.) seront exposées à la Cité des Congrès de Nantes du 8 au 12 juillet 2019 et publiées sur les sites et dans les revues partenaires.
